What We Do

Blue Family Fund is a nonprofit that raises funds to support the dependents of First Responders everywhere.

Our Board of Directors focuses on
two missions of Blue Family Fund:

1. Raise funds for higher education scholarships for dependents of First Responders. A dependent must be a senior in high school in order to be eligible.

2. Raise funds for financial assistance for families of fallen First Responders.

The Blue Family
Fund Promise

Every dollar donated will go to the families of First Responders, either through scholarships to dependents of First Responders or as aid to fallen First Responders family.

How It Works:

Blue Family Fund offers financial support through higher education scholarships for dependents of First Responders and by providing financial assistance for families of fallen First Responders.

Scholarships

Scholarship applicants must be a current junior or senior in a Texas high school in order to be eligible.

  1. Download and fill out the Scholarship Application.
  2. Tell us about your First Responders guardian.
  3. Submit your application.
  4. Your submission will then be reviewed by the Blue Family Fund Board of Directors.
  5. Applications will be reviewed and assessed by the Board of Directors. Awards will be granted based on merit.

Fallen Officer Family Funding

The Blue Family Fund exists to assist the families of fallen officers.  Our mission is to provide wide-ranging support — from empathetic ears to financial assistance for everyday needs. Once connected to a family, we confer with our Board of Directors to review each scenario to determine how best the family may be aided. We welcome families of any fallen officer to apply using our Blue Family Fund Application.

Born and raised in Abilene, Texas, Stacey then moved to California for college. She graduated from National University in San Diego, earning her Bachelor of Arts in Communications. Stacey then built a successful career in sales. After deciding California was no place for this Texas girl, Stacey returned to the Lone Star State.

In 2005, Stacey met the love of her life – Michael Magovern, a police officer in Abilene, TX. Michael and Stacey married and moved to Dallas-Fort Worth in 2007. During their time in DFW, Stacey learned what most people don’t know about police officers. These amazing people that put their lives on the line every day are paid very little in most departments.

Law Enforcement Officers rely on off-duty work to make ends meet. Some actually earn more working off-duty than they do in their departments. As the wife of a police officer, helping these officers became a passion for Stacey. She started Point Blank Safety Services in 2012, a management company that employs off-duty Texas police officers for highway safety work.

After huge success as CEO and Founder of Point Blank Safety, Stacey wanted to find a way to do more for police officers and their families. As a result, Blue Family Fund, Inc. was created. She is listed as the Secretary of the nonprofit.

Born in Denville, New Jersey, Michael grew up in both Toms River, New Jersey as well as Abilene, Texas, calling both home.

While in high school, Michael witnessed his family’s selfless dedication to both fire and rescue squads through volunteerism. Michael’s father Jerry was the Chief of Ocean Beach Fire Department and his older brother Jimmy was one of the first licensed paramedics to work in Ocean County New Jersey. Michael knew early in life, that helping others was his true calling.

In 2002, while working in Highlands County Florida as an E911 Dispatch Trainer, Michael learned that his younger brother, Scott, was losing his battle with brain cancer. Desiring to spend as much time as he could with Scott, Michael moved to Clyde, Texas. He moved just in time, for only a couple days after the move, Scott passed away.

Scott was an active Abilene Police Officer at the time of his death, working up till the Wednesday before his passing. During Scott’s treatment and recovery, EVERY officer donated time and money to his effort. Their dedication to Scott’s recovery was so extensive, the city was forced to change its policy regarding donating leave.

The Abilene Police department had made an amazing impact on Michael as well. A year later, in 2003, Michael graduated from the police academy. Two years later, he met his wife and Blue Family Fund Partner, Stacey.
